The Amarillo Police Department along with the Texas Department of Transportation and Andrea's Project will hold a special event Friday afternoon at 1:30 at the Amarillo Travel Information Center at I-40 and Airport Boulevard. The "Honoring the Past, Protecting The Future" event will honor the 10-year remembrance of Amarillo Police Officer Justin Scherlen, recognize the one year anniversary of the APD's Impaired Driving Unit and launch a new impaired driving prevention and community storytelling initiative. The public is invited to attend.
